Karl Blossfeldt was born in Schielo, June 13, 1865. In the early 1880's he studied as a sculptor at an iron foundry. During the 1890's Blossfeldt traveled to North Africa, Greece and Italy with his professor who thought natural forms were always present in art work. Later Blossfeldt made a series of plant photographs which were applauded for their show of form and construction. He died in Berlin December 9, 1932.
